Crash!

My computer has died, so it may be a while before I can get back to my blogging. Merry Christmas and happy new year to all of you!

Hot Mocha

Yum! I finished the top of another postcard today. It's fused, sewn by hand, and I used a confetti technique for the chocolate sprinkles.

Finished!

The 2 quilts I was making for my sons for Christmas are finished! The last stitch was put in today. I'll post pics of the finished product after Christmas.

Snowflake

I made this snowflake using the same folding/cutting technique as paper ones. The snowflake is fused and embellished with a foil snowflake and beads. The edge of the postcard has trim sewn on.

Postcard-Mothering

Postcard #2...loving this! This is an old Christmas card that I revamped. Love the jewel earring and the hair turned out great.

Fabric Postcards-Tea 4 2

I made my first fabric postcard, finished today. I really had fun with this one. Fussy cut and fused.
Can you find:
  • the bee
  • the cardinal
  • strawberries
  • napkins
  • cinnamon rolls

Fun, fun!

Storm at Sea

"Storm in Me"
This quilt was a special order. It was to be a scrap pieced table cloth for a side table.
It turned out BE-U-tiful! 100% cottons, template cut with rotary wheel, machine pieced, free motion stippled by machine.

Monkey Wrench

"Wrenched"
This is my very first quilt. I made the templates from a picture in a magazine. Of course, I knew nothing about quilting and it was all askew. I quit many times during the making of this quilt. :) I finally made it into a lap quilt and completed it. I learned to use 100% cottons of tight weave and that accurate piecing was essential.

Fabric Origami

Fabric origami blocks on unbleached cotton, colored with crayons. Wallhanging.

Under Construction

This is the beginning of take #4 of a contest quilt block I'm trying to make. So far so good.

I can't stick with something tried and true-Oh no, I have to go and reinvent the wheel...and find a better way of doing it. :)

What I'm Working On

This is my third attempt at a pattern I designed. It is working much better but still has some problems. I've discovered that the puckering is caused by the purple not being cut on the bias properly. I also don't really like the fabric in the middle (the star). Kinda clashing....

Back to the drawing board.....

Grandmothers Quilts

This is a compilation of some of my grandmother's utility quilts. There are two Trip Around the World quilts done with rectangles, one made with different colored squares and another with random pieces of fabric. All kinds of fabric are used. An old sheet makes up the "batting"-what we call summer quilts. These have a great weight to them which is great on top of a comforter or they can be used alone as a cool quilt in summer.

Music Note Coasters-Finished

Finished!
Set of 4 coasters. Paper pieced music notes. Machine pieced, 100% cotton, machine quilted.
Christmas gift.

Double Wedding Ring Douvet Cover

The rings were paper pieced and then machine pieced together (set in seams and curved piecing). I picked fabrics that reminded me of both Isabelle (my sister) and Clayton (her husband). The butterflies were iron on transfers that I free motion quilted over in variegated thread. The cream sections of the quilt were free motion stippled with white thread.

The rings refused to lay flat, so I cut batting out in the shape of the rings to keep it fluffed up. It turned out beautifully.

Here's my nephew trying out the new duvet cover. He seams pleased ;)
